Short Stories Packet 1 Response-

Okay. Wow. The creativity throughout these short stories is pretty outstanding. The stories come from something that you can't even start to fathom.  For example, I absolutely loved the 'Mystery Stories'.  They were small exerts and I found them to be the most creative works of art throughout that packet.

My favorite short story was "The Red Coats".   For some reason, it really grabbed my attention. I thought the story was clever and the outcome made me laugh a bit.  I do not know how the authors want us to interpret it but this is how I did.  It made me think of a business man in the 20's going to a party.  He walks in with an extravagant coat, grabbing all attention, with another person with him.  That is why he has two coats that go onto the bed.  Then when he comes back, who he arrived with won't be the person he is leaving with.  Since the 1920's was the fun, exciting time it wasn't a big deal for that to happen.  Then, the coat that was once extravagant (red) is not grey with black lining.  A grey black coat is what most men wore throughout their days in the business world.  The idea was extremely catchy to me.

Furthermore, in the short story "Poetry",  I found it interesting.  I love how the author only uses four sentences but makes such a vidid, un ended story, so interesting.  It leaves you asking questions, coming up with your own conclusions and so forth.  From the plastic cup, to the hope of a china cup makes the reader believe that the poet is dreaming of much higher and better things.

Throughout all of the Short Stories in Packet 1, it creates such great imagery and ideas in such a short time frame.  Especially in these examples, the stories were only a couple of lines long and yet kept you pondering after the story was over.  If anything, it shows that no matter how creative and confusing it may be, ultimately the reader is left with writing the end of the story.  And if that does happen, then the author accomplished the task of being an interesting writer.
